Terms of Use.

Welcome to StoriWeb. These Terms of Use explain the rules for using StoriWeb and submitting stories for consideration. By creating an account or using StoriWeb, you agree to these terms.

1. About StoriWeb

StoriWeb is a reading application designed to help people discover and read short stories.

StoriWeb is currently provided free of charge. Features, content, and services may change or evolve over time.

2. Your account

Some StoriWeb features require an account. You create and access your account using the email address associated with your account and a passwordless email magic link.

You are responsible for providing an email address that you are authorized to use and for keeping access to that email account secure.

You must not use another person's account or attempt to access an account that does not belong to you.

3. Using StoriWeb

You may use StoriWeb for personal, non-commercial reading and enjoyment, subject to these Terms of Use.

You agree not to:

  • Use StoriWeb for unlawful purposes.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to StoriWeb, its accounts, systems, or data.
  • Interfere with the operation or security of StoriWeb.
  • Copy, reproduce, redistribute, sell, or commercially exploit StoriWeb content without permission.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or circumvent technical protections except where permitted by applicable law.
  • Use StoriWeb to distribute malicious, fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful material.

4. StoriWeb content

Stories, text, illustrations, branding, graphics, software, and other materials provided through StoriWeb may be protected by copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.

Unless otherwise stated, StoriWeb and its licensors retain the rights to StoriWeb's original content and materials.

Your use of StoriWeb does not transfer ownership of StoriWeb content to you.

You may read and enjoy stories through the app for your personal use, but you may not reproduce, republish, sell, distribute, or commercially exploit StoriWeb content without appropriate permission.

5. Story submissions

StoriWeb accepts story submissions only through email at .

There is currently no in-app story submission feature. Sending a story by email is entirely voluntary.

By submitting a story, you represent that:

  • You created the story or otherwise have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it.
  • Your submission does not knowingly infringe another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
  • You have the authority to submit the story for consideration.
  • Your submission does not knowingly contain unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, threatening, or otherwise prohibited material.

We may review submissions for possible inclusion in the StoriWeb Readers' Stories section.

Submission does not guarantee publication. StoriWeb may accept or decline any submission at its discretion.

Submitting a story does not grant StoriWeb the right to publish or commercially exploit that story.

6. Publication rights

If StoriWeb is interested in publishing a submitted story, we will contact the author by email with the proposed publication terms.

Those terms may include the publication rights requested by StoriWeb, payment amount, attribution, editing or formatting permissions, where the story may appear, and any other relevant conditions.

A story will only be published after the author expressly agrees to the proposed publication terms.

The author's acceptance may be provided by email or through another written confirmation requested by StoriWeb.

Until the author accepts the publication terms, the author retains ownership of the story and StoriWeb does not receive publication rights beyond the limited right to review the submission.

7. Rights granted after acceptance

When an author accepts StoriWeb's publication terms, the rights granted to StoriWeb will be limited to those expressly agreed to in that publication arrangement.

Unless the separate publication agreement says otherwise, the author retains ownership of the copyright in the story.

StoriWeb may make reasonable formatting, presentation, or minor editorial changes to a published story where those changes are covered by the agreed publication terms.

Any material changes to the rights granted, payment, exclusivity, or other significant publication conditions should be agreed with the author before publication.

8. Story selection and payment

StoriWeb may select certain submitted stories for publication in its Readers' Stories section.

Selection is at StoriWeb's discretion and does not guarantee publication or payment.

If a story is selected for paid publication, StoriWeb will communicate the payment amount and applicable publication terms to the author before publication.

Payment will be made according to the payment method and timing agreed with the author.

Payment may require additional information from the author that is reasonably necessary to process the payment.

StoriWeb does not currently charge users to read stories and does not currently operate paid subscriptions or in-app purchases.

9. Content standards and moderation

We want StoriWeb to remain a safe and enjoyable place to read.

We may review, reject, edit for presentation, remove, or decline to publish submitted content that we believe:

  • Is unlawful or violates another person's rights.
  • Infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Contains credible threats, targeted harassment, or abusive material.
  • Contains sexually exploitative or otherwise prohibited material.
  • Is fraudulent, deceptive, or deliberately misleading.
  • Violates these Terms or applicable law.
  • Is otherwise inappropriate for the StoriWeb experience.

We may also restrict or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms.

10. Reporting content or concerns

If you believe a story or other content available through StoriWeb violates these Terms, infringes your rights, or contains objectionable material, please contact us.

11. Intellectual property complaints

If you believe that content available through StoriWeb infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us at with details of the material and your claim.

We may remove or restrict access to content while we review a legitimate rights complaint.

12. Account suspension and termination

You may stop using StoriWeb at any time.

You can also delete your account through the account deletion feature available in the app.

We may suspend or terminate access to StoriWeb if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, misused the service, created a security risk, or engaged in unlawful or abusive activity.

Where appropriate, we may also remove content associated with a terminated account.

13. Availability of StoriWeb

We work to keep StoriWeb available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or free from errors.

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or restrict parts of StoriWeb when reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security, technical reasons, or changes to the service.

14. Third-party services

StoriWeb uses third-party services, including Supabase, to provide certain infrastructure, authentication, and database functionality.

Your use of those services may also be subject to the applicable terms and policies of those third parties.

15. Disclaimer

StoriWeb is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law.

We do not guarantee that every story or piece of content will be accurate, complete, suitable for every reader, or available at all times.

You are responsible for deciding whether content available through StoriWeb is appropriate for you.

16. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StoriWeb and its operator will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, StoriWeb.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time as StoriWeb evolves.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of StoriWeb after the updated Terms become effective means that you accept the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
